what to expect from your appointment with Richmond Rehab

What Is Telehealth?

Telehealth is simply your regular physiotherapy consultation… via video chat! We understand that nothing beats a face to face consultation, however there are several circumstances where it is in appropriate for our patients to come to the clinic.

  • You are currently unwell and unable to attend the clinic

  • You live in a remote location and it is inappropriate to get to the clinic

  • You’re short on time due to work or personal commitments

  • You’ve gone away on holidays but something has popped up

What Types Of Conditions Do We Manage Via Telehealth?

Surprisingly we can manage most common presentations such as lower back pain, knee pain, sprained ankles or shoulder pain over the internet. Nothing beats the ability to feel your sore muscles or joints, but our experienced physio team are adept at guiding you through an assessment and deciding if your issue needs a more thorough investigation or can be managed through the advice provided through Telehealth. The common complaints we see are things such as lower back pain, knee pain or ankle sprains which can easily treated through online consultations.

How Does Telehealth Work?

All of our online appointments are of the same duration as a clinic based appointments, 45 minutes for initial complaints & 30 minutes for follow-up appointments. An email is sent to our patients prior to the scheduled time which contains a link to the secure software we use for our online consultations. At your scheduled time, your physiotherapist will start an encrypted video chat with you on your computer or smartphone. We recommend being in a quiet environment with enough room to move around and show us what activities you’re struggling with.
